Program Overview :

Yorkville College recognizes that students of the English language have different needs and goals. That is why we have divided our English as a Second Language program into a series of highly focused workshops. The workshops are designed to help students develop practical skills and build confidence with their mastery of the English language. Each workshop addresses a specific aspect of English, with a tightly organized curriculum and stated learning outcomes that provide a clear indication of what the students can expect. Why Take Our Workshops?

  • Students interested in writing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOFEL) can greatly benefit from all of the workshops offered. Each workshop relates to a specific part of the test
  • Perspective or existing post-secondary students can expect to develop skills that will be vital in their academic careers. Each workshop teaches skills that help students become more effective and productive learners
  • Students that are entering or already are part of the workforce can learn how to better present themselves and become valuable assets to their employers. Each workshop have a clear and direct, “real world” application.

The Workshops:

The objective of the workshops is to help students improve their understanding and mastery of the English language. The workshops are intended to be a positive classroom environment, where students can actively work at refining existing skills and developing new ones.

Every workshop consists of 20 hours of in-class instruction.
