Program Overview : Yorkville College recognizes that students of the English language have different needs and goals. That is why we have divided our English as a Second Language program into a series of highly focused workshops. The workshops are designed to help students develop practical skills and build confidence with their mastery of the English language. Each workshop addresses a specific aspect of English, with a tightly organized curriculum and stated learning outcomes that provide a clear indication of what the students can expect. Why Take Our Workshops?
The Workshops: The objective of the workshops is to help students improve their understanding and mastery of the English language. The workshops are intended to be a positive classroom environment, where students can actively work at refining existing skills and developing new ones. Every workshop consists of 20 hours of in-class instruction.
Speaking English This workshop is for students looking to develop or improve their oral communication skills. In this workshop, students will discuss previously assigned readings, work with vocabulary, become familiar with informal and formal discussions, explore ideas and make short presentations. The goal of this workshop is to increase student confidence and fluency.
