Teaching Excellence

Yorkville College is a quality institution focused on teaching excellence to produce graduates who are prepared to enter the workforce with relevant skills.

Internally, Yorkville College measures teaching excellence as part of our institutional analysis. Every instructor is hired based upon academic and experiential backgrounds. The instructors are encouraged to use "hands-on" teaching techniques where available. Yorkville encourages the use of viewers, site visits and other teaching methods that facilitate the transfer of information to the student.

Students measure our instructors on relevant evaluation forms using a ten point Likert scale. The instructors are aware of student evaluations. Instructors review evaluation forms and are encouraged to improve techniques to the point of coaching those students who need incremental assistance. Instructors at our college average 8.5+ on student evaluations. Yorkville College takes great pride in that measurement and realizes the importance of training instructors to be able to teach by the effective transfer of information to a diverse adult population.
