As the public and legal professionals try to manage the costs of services, opportunities are being created for the paralegals. Program Overview:Graduates of this diploma program acquire a broad understanding of the Canadian legal system and specific knowledge about several major areas of law. The course of study is intense. After laying the theoretical groundwork for a particular area of law, students are taught "real world" applications of the law. In this format students will be developing confidence and competence in the key skill areas sought in this fast growing job market. Each module equips students with legal information they will use to assist clients and act as agents for those who need help with a variety of legal services either directly or under the supervision of a practicing lawyer. Program Design:Each of the following headings represents a module of the program. Within each is an element of theory, practice and facilitated discussion to solidify the students' knowledge. Students undergo a written proficiency evaluation at the completion of each module that reinforces content comprehension and legal reasoning using the concepts learned in that particular module.
